VOS was founded on December 2, 1999.

As student association for linguistics and sign linguistics we’ve been organizing activities to bring our members together for over 10 years. We visit (sign)linguistic events such as the TWIST student conference in Leiden, the Meertens institute and other conferences.

But of course, we also organize various fun non-linguistic activities such as movie nights, dinners and, because we’re a Dutch student association, a monthly borrel. The most important activity of the year is the study trip where we combine visiting a conference with fun social activities.

Activities

By becoming a member of VOS you’ll be able to get to know your fellow (sign)linguistics students. Most of our members are Dutch, which means you’ll be able to interact with (those very elusive) natives during the activities.

Textbook sale

Every semester we organize a textbook sale. Before the beginning of the semester VOS sends all of her members a list with books you can order. As a member, you can order your textbooks with a discount through our website.

Membership

Interested in becoming a member of VOS? Membership is only € 10 for one year and being a member means being able to participate in all the activities we organize. Besides that, we also offer attractive discounts on textbooks. So becoming a member will expand your social network and save you money, at the same time!
